ROCKFORD (WREX) - The Rock River Development Partnership released a study that says Rockford City Market attracted about 101,860 visitors during its season, an average of 5,093 weekly. The study says visitors spent nearly $3.5 million at the market and $1.8 million at downtown businesses during the season. A survey of visitors showed 70 percent came from outside Rockford city limits, 91 percent said the market was their reason for visiting downtown and60 percent visited a business either before or after the market. Peter J. Provenzano, Chairman of the RRDP, says the results are for more than hindsight. “We use the survey results to refine our plans for next season,” Provenzano said,“Continuous evaluation and improvement on a weekly and seasonal basis are key components of our effort.” Officials say this year's attendance is a nearly 400 percent increase since 2010
